PLASTIC REDUCTION SHOWCASE EVENT
Exclusive screening of STRAWS Documentary
Evoking the End of Single Use Plastic Pollution
Event 1-3pm (Screening at 2pm)
The Kenton theatre is delighted to have the opportunity to host a special screening of STRAWS which will undoubtedly inspire people to change their personal use of straws and other single use plastics, while also encouraging dialogue with Henley businesses, organisations and community leaders.
STRAWS is an award-winning documentary that illuminates the problems related with straws and other single use plastic pollution that inundate our waterways and oceans. The film inspires a new path forward. “I hope to get people thinking about how small habits can add up to huge impact. Removing plastic straws is a tangible, simple change people and businesses can do that truly makes a difference,” says filmmaker, Linda Booker.
With colorful straw history animation and segments narrated by Actor and Director Tim Robbins, STRAWS is funny and entertaining and leaves audiences with a clear understanding of the problems caused by plastic pollution. It illustrates how individuals, groups, business owners and leaders around the globe are reducing plastic straw use, empowering individuals to be part of the solution.
“An inspiring story of how it’s possible to make a sea of change, one straw at a time,” by the Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival.
Linda Booker, the film’s director and producer, will join us for a post-screening skype discussion.
This screening will form the basis of this Plastic Reduction Showcase Event which will feature a community exhibition entitled ‘A War on Plastics; Recycling and Reduction’, curated by Julia Carey, Henley Plastics Campaigner www.henleyplasticreduction.com
