GILAD ATZMON (saxophone) with FRANK HARRISON (keyboards)
JAZZ IN THE ROUND # 2
The second in a series of chamber jazz concerts, with the audience seated comfortably on the extended Kenton stage and gathered around the musicians. These are performances that will draw you into the music, improvisatory fireworks and passion at close hand, to be punctuated by casual chat from the musicians, who will offer insight into their craft. Audience numbers will be limited. So, do book early to guarantee your space with these world class musicians.
GILAD ATZMON, Israeli born, has been settled in the UK for twenty years but tours the world as a soloist or with his main group, the Orient House Ensemble which he formed in 2003. His energetic style takes no prisoners, is forthright and pyrotechnic, influenced by John Coltrane. He melds flavours of the Middle East with the jazz scale. His many albums are feted, impressive, forceful yet melodic.
FRANK HARRISON studied jazz at the Berklee School of Music and was a founder member with Gilad Atzmon of the Orient House Ensemble which now tours the world. Now he plays with many groups, also he leads his own trio. He is renowned as an accompanist and is in demand with many jazz singers. His musical ear is so good that it has been said (and proven) that if you were to drop a tray of cutlery, he could play back the notes as the spoons clattered to the floor.
