The Henley Drama Festival proudly enters its 49th consecutive year in 2020. Its continuing success reflects our offer both to competitors (the Festival is indeed a competition) and audiences.
Theatre companies get to perform in England’s fourth-oldest working theatre, the wonderful Kenton, supported by volunteers notably including our young sound and lighting technicians from the Henley College. They then benefit from a professional and impartial appraisal by a member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators. This is vital to all who want to improve their offering to their patrons, and especially to our young companies. Entrants are also eligible for a large number of awards, which again this year include a place on a professional acting workshop, generously provided by our friends at ‘Rabble Theatre Company’.
Punters enjoy the theatre’s unique ambiance with its welcoming bar and foyer, a stimulating variety of short plays at a reasonable ticket price, and the chance to match their judgements against those of our professional critic. You will be supporting hard-working amateur actors, directors and designers, giving an audience to some new writers and generally encouraging live theatre.
So do please come – and as often as you can!
