Ghost Lights Presents A Night Of Original Live Music – Elucidate / Tiger Medoza / Octavia Freud
The second instalment of the Kenton’s local and new music talent nights sees the brightest and best bands in the area take to the stage. The Ghost Lights nights aim to bring an eclectic mix of styles to the Kenton rather than concentrate on any single genre. Expect a mix of styles and approaches. You might just find your new favourite band.
Reading’s Elucidate take elements of punk, metal, and pop, and mixes them all together to create something that is quite unique. The band have been picked up as one to watch by various blogs, the BBC Introducing team and back in 2019 were tipped as one of Spotify’s hot new bands.
Oxford based “Electronica Pop Rock Thing” Tiger Mendoza has been creating sonic oddities, pop gems and various remixes since 2009. The pseudonym of producer Ian De Quadros, Tiger Mendoza is as happy on stage as in the studio. We’re not sure which version of Tiger Mendoza to expect – but that’s part of the fun…his live shows are always intriguing affairs. Rather than just recreating studio tracks, playing live is a chance to build and expand on original tracks. Ian’s track record is quite extraordinary – not just on a local level, he’s also produced remixes for the likes of DJ Shadow and Public Enemy.
Octavia Freud frontman Martin Andrews makes DIY electronica with a sardonic edge. His music is humorous, personal and political.
Octavia Freud’s live show involves a mixture of locked on electronic beats, dead pan vocals and projected films to create a performance piece that celebrates the everyday but aspires for greatness.
Current singles, ‘When I was a kid’ and ‘Fifty’ have been picking up rave magazine reviews and radio airplay on BBC Introducing.
Martin has previously performed at London’s ICA, Flèche Dor in Paris and at Isle of Wight’s Bestival festival.
