CORONAVIRUS

Welcoming you back safely

Step 4 of the government’s roadmap anticipates the removal of all legal limits on social contact and the reopening of full theatre auditoriums from 21 June, subject to successful pilot test events taking place in April and May. We are delighted to confirm that we are working hard to re-open the Kenton Theatre, and we are looking forward to welcoming you back.

We expect shows from 1st September onwards to go ahead as normal but earlier shows may be subject to a reduced capacity. These will of course comply with any government guidelines current at the time. Our primary aim is always the safety of our customers, staff and performers.

In the meantime see our digital calendar for current dates for our shows and on-line performances for all the family.

We continue to contact ticket-holders with arrangements for rescheduled dates or for refunds.  Please bear with us while we work through the cancellations – please do not call or email the Box Office as you will be contacted as soon as possible.

Please note – all information is correct at time of publishing. We are acting in accordance with government guidelines, which are subject to change – please check this page before your visit.

The Box Office

We aim to open the box office no earlier than the 17th May 2021, and we look forward to welcoming you if you wish to book tickets in person. The following measures will be in place for your visit:

  • E-tickets will be available. These do not have to be printed but can be shown on your smartphone or similar device for us to scan on entry. In order to reduce queueing and minimise contact, tickets will not be available for collection from the Box Office
  • We will carry out enhanced cleaning of all public areas, both prior to and during opening
  • We will limit the number of people in the foyer at any time, and ask that you wait at the door until we have space for you to enter
  • We do not ask you to come alone, but please come to purchase your tickets in a group no larger than six people in line with other restrictions currently in place
  • Transactions at the Box Office will be cashless
  • Face coverings are required inside the Kenton Theatre at all times unless you are exempt for health reasons. Kenton Theatre staff will also wear a face covering.

Socially distanced performances

Any performances which operate with a reduced capacity will include a range of measures to reduce congestion and enable social distancing. The following measures will also be in place for these performances:

  • E-tickets will be available. These do not have to be printed but can be shown on your smartphone or similar device for us to scan on entry. In order to reduce queueing and minimise contact, tickets will not be available for collection from the Box Office
  • We will carry out enhanced cleaning of all public areas including the Auditorium, both prior to and during performances.
  • Hand sanitising stations positioned throughout the building
  • Face coverings are required for the duration of your visit (except for eating and drinking) unless exempt for health reasons. Front of House staff will also wear face coverings
  • The Bar will be open during your visit but transactions will be cashless and paperless. We will come to your seat to take orders and payment, and deliver your purchases to you in order that you do not need to leave your seat unnecessarily
  • Toilets will be available, and our staff and volunteers will manage access and queues in order to maintain social distancing and reduce contact
  • Cloakrooms and other storage will not be available so please bring minimal belongings
  • Our socially-distanced auditorium offers a reduced capacity of 66 seats ensuring a 1m-plus space between parties
  • Seat bubbles are available as groups of 1 to 6 seats
  • We will send you an email prior to the performance detailing timed arrivals with information regarding how you can access your seat, and we may ask you to leave by a different route to how you entered
  • Contact details are collected during the booking process to support NHS Test and Trace
  • Additional signage will be in place to manage social distancing and audience flow
  • Programmes and ice creams can be purchased during your visit. Please note all transactions will be cashless, and in line with our bar service we will happily take your order at your seat

These measures will be reviewed and updated in line with Government guidelines.

Please do not attend the theatre if you:

  • believe you may be infected with COVID-19;
  • have experienced symptoms in the last 14 days;
  • have been in close proximity to anyone who has experienced symptoms in the last 14 days;
  • or have been instructed to self-isolate.

Book with confidence

Please be reassured that should you book for a performance which has to be cancelled, you will be offered the option of a refund, credit or a transfer to another performance.
For maximized flexibility customers can exchange their ticket up to at least 24 hours prior to the event (subject to availability).
We hope you have an enjoyable visit but if you do have any concerns, members of staff will be on hand to help you.

The Theatre is a Charity and we are asking those who have purchased tickets for any of our cancelled shows if you are able to donate the cost to our Restoration Fund.  If you would like to make a separate donation, you may do so by using the KENTON FOR KEEPS – DONATE – SAVE YOUR THEATRE  menu on the website or by clicking here
